Warren Metropolitan Housing Authority (WMHA) provides housing assistance to low-income working families, seniors, persons with disabilities and persons with special needs.

FSS / Home Ownership

Encouraging families to become Self-Sufficient

Encouraging families to become self-sufficient, that’s the mission of the Warren Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Program. The FSS staff network with a variety of social agencies to develop ways to assist individuals with making necessary life changes which are important steps toward economic self-sufficiency.

Housing Choice Voucher

Housing assistance for low-income families in the private rental market.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides housing assistance for low-income families in the private rental market. Rental voucher holders select a unit from the private rental market. Rental assistance makes market-rate housing affordable. Program participants pay 30% but no more than 40% of their monthly adjusted income towards rent and utilities. The housing assistance payment subsidizes the balance of the rent to the property owner.

Public Housing

Providing rental housing for eligible low-income families, elderly, and those with disabilities.

Public housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single-family houses to high rise apartments for elderly families.

Bridges

a temporary housing option for homeless families.

The WMHA/Bridges Program is a rapid re-housing program providing short-term rental assistance and services. The goals are to help obtain housing quickly, increase self-sufficiency, and stay housed. It is offered without preconditions (such as employment, income, absence of criminal record, or sobriety) and the resources and services provided are typically tailored to the needs of the person; housing identification, rent and move-in assistance, and rapid re-housing case management and services.
